Bad News

Blogger is discontinuing FTP updating. This fucks me right over. I've been using FTP to update for EVAR, but apparently I'm a part of only 0.5% of Blogger's total population that uses FTP. That being the case they are discontinuing FTP access to my independent host. I haven't yet found an easy way to to switch all my shiznit over to something else. There may be a few more posts, but after March 6th or so I won't be able to do it the way I've been doing it.

My only concern is copying all of the past bazillion years of stuff over to something new. Haven't figured it out yet. Working on it.

Fuck you Blogger.

I feel a little better now.

I'll feel a lot better when everything is converted over. Hopefully I'll be able to bring all the old posts and comments wherever I end up. Cross your fingers.

Sorry to hear your discontent. Hope you can come up with an easy or relatively easy solution. Noticed the very end of the blog something about "ClusterMaps". Does this have anything to do with Clint Eastwood and his comment in one of his movies of what might be described as a group activity?

One reason I am glad I just shucked my old web journal and jumped on the Blogger bandwagon way back when.

You could, ya know, if you have the online space/place, tuck all the old stuff onto a giant page and put it under a link on a blog list. I did that for a while. Cheap and easy.

Yeah I attempted that when they did the switch over from "Old" Blogger to "New" Blogger, but it didn't convert my whole blog at the time and it didn't like my hacked template so I said forget it and just stuck with the what I had.

As it stands now my choices are go back to a "***".blogspot.com address, try and switch all my crap over to a Google hosted blog to retain my www.littlekenny.com or jump ship completely and go with something like Movable Type that does give me direct FTP access to everything at the remote host.

I tried MT a couple years back and it didn't convert my blog well at all.

I agree with your quick and easy solution if I can't get it any other way. The software nerd in me wants to try the hard way first.

Either of the last two options lets me keep using www.littlekenny.com. The problem and reason I'm not going with the second option is that I don't WANT google to host my blog. No thank you.

The last option is to me the only option at this point. Save what I can and import it into the new blog and continue from there. I just don't think there's going to be any easy way to import all of my content to the new one.

Yay. Tedious work ahead. I really have been kind of wanting to switch it up for a while. Guess they finally forced me.
