Food & Movies

So we had a wine and cheese night last night. A nice bottle of wine and a great selection of cheese. Mmmmm, cheese. Mrs. LK picked up a nice selection of cheese and we cracked open a great bottle of wine. Mrs. LK is not around currently to verify the types of cheese, but my best guess is as follows. Some very nice Point Reyes Blue that went very well with a fig spread. Also, some Saint Andre Triple Creme which is probably one of the best cheeses ever. Ev. Er. There was also some Kerrygold Dubliner Irish Cheddar which is a personal favorite, some Parmagiano Reggiano and lastly some Cotswald. This of course was accompanied by some thinly sliced French baguette and some Beecher's Original Style crackers. There were also some grapes, but I didn't waste any time with those.

On the wine front we cracked open a bottle of BV Georges de Latour Private Reserve 2003. It certainly could have spent more time in the bottle, but it was absolutely fantastic with our cheese assortment. So good. I'm drooling thinking about it.

The entertainment was provided by Netflix "View On Demand". I've been contemplating signing up for Netflix for a while now and did so last night. While signing up I saw that they offer some movies on demand as part of the plan I selected. Now I didn't really want to watch a movie on the laptop. I hooked up the laptop to the surround receiver and we were able to watch full screen movies on the TV with decent sound. The Netflix on demand isn't perfect. There are brief skips throughout the movie, but nothing that makes the movie not enjoyable to watch. Overall I was very happy with this bonus feature of Netflix. Woohoo.

As for the movies well we started with Bullitt which I hadn't seen before. I liked it. We weren't done with our cheese and wine yet so I looked for something else and picked Superbad on a whim. I wasn't expecting much from the movie. Turns out both of us enjoyed it quite a bit. The wine may have helped.

All in all a great night. Maybe a little too great for Mrs. LK. Someones tummy was a bit off kilter after all the rich cheese and tasty wine. I felt fine if not just a little bit full.
