It's probably of the Charlie Finley vintage. He bought the franchise, if memory serves, in the late 1960's or early 1970's after they began playing in Oakland. Green and gold were his colors, just like the "A's" colors, even today, which team he also owned then. The hockey team even wore colored skates but I can't remember what color it was, either white, green or gold. Finley was a cheap bastard and paid the lowest salaries in the NHL so some of his employees sold off little bits of the team's equipment to supplement their incomes. That's how I got a pair of CCM Prolite blades with the Tackaberry boot, that even had a leather reinforcement inside the boot. They were an older pair of Bob Baun's, an all-star defenseman when he played with the Maple Leafs. I still have them. They're rusting and haven't been used since I quit hockey some 30 odd years ago. When the Seals played in SF in the early 1960's, at the Cow Palace, their unies were basically white with gold and black trim. I'm sure I've given much more info than you really wanted but nostalgia broke in. Sorry you had to return so quickly but we're glad it sounds like you're going back soon.
By the way Bob Baun was a nice boy from Saskatchewan. The skates cost me $35.00 and went for close to $300.00 retail. My morals have improved since I quit playing hockey.
