When I was a keiki, my Dad was coaching his team and the summer training involved going to Lana'i to pick pineapple.
1969 was a pretty heavy year for the world, and the peace and utter emptiness of Lana'i was pretty cool stuff for rat like me.
I always remember going to Shipwreck beach, and the hugeass mail barge that was stuck on the reef there. Anchors, chains and assorted float-and jetsam litter the beach.
It was the coolest shit I had ever seen in my short life then.
