Happy Things A Jumble

Once again I will lump a bunch of the disgusting happy bits into one post. I'm just not great at the keeping a schedule thing over the long term. I'm great for those short sprints, but forget cross country.

So for today since it relates to work and I'm not allowed to photograph at my place of employment the picture will be this...


Now just ask my little pillipina how many times I actually talk about work in a positive way and you'll know that I seriously dislike what I do most of the time. However, there are times when I do things that sort of resemble things that are cool. A project comes out well. A problem is solved. You know good stuff. Today was one of those days and praise was meted out to myself and others. Those days are few and far between, but today was one of them so that's my happy bit for the day.

Yesterday Imelda and I had dinner at Houstons. I only thought to take a snapshot with my phone cam after it was all said and done. If you look to the right at the top of the flickr pictures you'll see what was left of the baked potato. That started out as two lemon drop martinis, a medium rare filet mignon and a loaded baked potato. It was finished off by a cup of coffee with Splenda and cream. Mmmmmmm.

As for Tuesday I think the happy bit was the two for one burgers at Hennessey's in Hermosa. Because you know the whole reason to go there is for the food. Right. Two of these bad boys provides for quite a bit of time to enjoy the local fauna.

That should be it for the three day recap.

Happy Thing For 8/22/2005

There is no picture for yesterdays happy thing. Seeing as I was the recipient of very, very nice massage there was no way I was going to get up to take a stupid picture. It was very relaxing and right before bed too. Back, shoulders, arms and legs. Ahhhh.......

Definitely put me right to sleep. Thanks honey.

Redondo Beach Bristol Farms Lobster Feast

So Bristol had a lobster fest at the Redondo store.

We went. We ate. We brought home the leftovers. 'Cuz I'll tell you what. A 2 lb lobster, they were actually almost 2 1/2, is a lot of flippin' lobster. Then when you add in clam chowda (CHOW-DA), fresh bread, cole slaw, corn on the cob, watermelon, and ... no I think that was it, there will be leftovers.

As for the leftovers, well those went into a salad. Just so you all know, don't mess with Imelda when she's eating lobster. Just don't.

But Wait There Is More Happy

So then Saturday rolls around. We slept in a bit, but not a whole lot. We had plans to go to the Redondo Beach Bristol Farms lobster fest. Which was really a feast, but more on that in a bit. Around noon there was a knock on the door. The Warden, aka my landlord, was here to install the new(to us) stove. Now this is a good thing, but I had forgotten that I had said we should do it right then. Now I wasn't too thrilled with the idea, but we had been putting it off for over a month already so there was no helping it and we just did it. In the process much stuff needed to be moved out of the way to 1) get the old stove out, 2) get the new stove out of the garage, and 3) get the new one back up stairs and installed.

So the old one is out, the new one is in. I won't go into details about the adapters needed or the cleaning required before it could come inside. I will elaborate on the happy factors since that's what this post is about. Looking at it now makes me happy for a number of reasons.

To begin with it looks soooooo much nicer than the ghetto appliance it replaced. Seriously. I wish I had taken a picture of our little ghetto stove before the old mexican couple picked it up in the alley this morning. Oh well. Actually you can see it in the back ground of this picture.


Second, all four burners work AT THE SAME TIME. Woohoo! Third, more than one cupcake can be baked at a time now. Can you say apple pie? I can. Fourth, since Imelda really does like to cook this should make things a bit easier. Which is nice. Here's the new one.

Happy, Happy

Ok getting up to date. So Friday was a sort of late work day and I only beat Imelda home by about five minutes. What was nice though was the box waiting at the front door for me. Yay! Imelda had seen me in the morning leaving a note for the FedEX dude and had asked what I was getting, but I wouldn't tell her and said she would just have to wait and see.

Imelda: "What are you getting?"
Me: "You'll just have to wait and see."

So the box was there and I put it on the kitchen counter and went to read the paper and relax a bit. She arrived just as I sat down and asked if I was going to open the box. I said she should since there was something in there for her.

Imelda: "Are you going to open it?"
Me: "No, you open it. There is something in there for you."

So she did. And there was. And she was happy. And I was happy that she was happy. Yay!

This Qualifies As The Happy Bit For 8/18/2005

Well the CJP's* new rig showed up on the doorstep today. After a quick checkup it seems to be in good health.
That's right, dude got a Dell.


Time to load it up, deliver it and set it up. Mmmmm, I can taste the pizza and beer now. Mmmmm.

*CJP would be Chinese Jet Pilot for those not in the know. Now you are.

Oh, Woe Is Me

Well I'm feeling just terrible. Definitely very ill. Ill meaning that a certain Chinese Jet Pilot's goodies are arriving today and I have to be here to sign for them. In person. Shucks. I told my little pilli-pina how ill I was, but she was practically running out the door.
So I'll just have to stay here sick all by my lonesome. See below, I'm sick, I swear. Don't I look sick.

Happy Things For 8/15, 8/16 & 8/17

For the 15th and 16th...

Other than continuing to breathe and have a heart beat.

Yay.

For today, the possibility that I may get to stay home tomorrow "sick" in order to be here when UPS comes by to drop off the "Dude, you got a Dell!"

Then again it could be Friday before that happens. Who knows. Who cares.

Well that isn't quite true, but certain people get queasy when I mention the exsay topic. So I won't mention the happy thing that happened this morning. What-eva!

Happy Things For 8/13/2005 and 8/14/2005

Wow, I'm really falling behind on the Happy Stuff business. I knew I'd have a hard time coming up with pictures for every day, but I didn't think I'd miss so many days.

Well yesterdays happy bit was "sleeping" in followed much later in the day by a relaxing, fun and laugh filled party. Good times.

Today's was very similar. Except for the sleeping in part. Still a day spent in the sun and pool and combined with grilled burgers, brauts and chicken can really never be bad. And in fact today was very, very good. To those of you that wussed out, sucks to be you. ;)

Belated Happy Thing For 8/12/2005

Again I have no picture, at least not of the actual event itself, of this happy thing even though I had my phone with me. The happy moment was having a nice Indian meal with my wife. Food was good, service was good, the company was excellent.

Now there is no type of show that I want to watch less than one between two nut jobs arguing back and forth, at least not one that I can think of right now. Happy Thing For 8/11/2005

Finished reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Up to now I had only ever seen the original movie. The book was enjoyable. Now I've started on some of Mr. Dahl's adult oriented stories. I've read two or three short stories so far and I'm still reading so I think that's a good thing.

I guess reading in general is my Happy Thing for today.

Happieness For 8/10/2005

The reception of new tshirts. All of which have neato designs on them. I'd show them all, but then what would be the surprise? At least you can see all the swell colors.


Again I missed a happy day thing, but I just forgot to get a photograph of the dinner we had at Bristol. The appetizer consisted of the following items: grilled onions, roasted shitaki mushrooms, thinly sliced & then rolled prosciutto, a oil and basil vinaigrette, all on top of a bed of arugala. Yummy. The main course consisted of a medium sized shrimp in a yummy Brazilian style sauce. Almost like soup. Sort of in between soup and stew. Really, really good. I had seconds. Both of these were served with an awesome selection of pinot noirs. Three of them. The first was by Castle Rock which we had with the salad. The second was by Nekaia and was really tasty. The third one I can't remember and while it was tasty the first two were better in my opinion. At least for the money.

Well I'm about to go out for the remainder of the day. Not sure if I'll be able to post up a Happy Moment for the day picture. This is the post. The Happy Thing is going to be enjoying good food and good times with friends, but I probably won't post the picture until later. Cheers everyone, enjoy your weekend I know I will enjoy mine.

Happy Thing For 8/5/2005

Books always seem to make for a happy surprise. Now I knew these were arriving directly, but I didn't know exactly when. Well today was the day and it made the end of a tedious day of work much, much better. Ahhhh.

Voltron Pwned

I grew up watching all kinds of sci-fi cartoons, Robotech, Star Blazers and of course Voltron. To say Voltron kicked some bad guy ass is an understatement. Watching the shows now leaves me less impressed, but I still have fond memories of them from when I was younger.

Today Mr. Risk passed on a great clip. It looks like it came from Comedy Central's Adult Swim stuff, but I couldn't find it on their site so I'm serving it from here for now. Enjoy the geekery. Voltron represent!

Happy Thing For 8/4/2005

Technology stuff has a good track record of making me happier. Usually the purchase of said technology. Now I can't always being buying it for me. So todays happy item consists of not only technology, but also helping out a friend. Today I ordered a new computer for a friend and received the confirmation email from Dell. Woohoo!

Happy Thing For 8/3/2005

Well it serves me right for not taking my own picture. Man you'd think there would be tons of pictures of the Hermosa Beach Pier Plaza, during the day, with lots of people walking and eating. At least I thought there would be. Of all the ones I've seen tonight this one was at least during the day when there was sun. We ate lunch today at Hennesey's right on the Strand. The food is ok, but really you're there for ambiance. Heh. Here's the picture I dug up. It's taken by Daniel Sofer a local artist.

Happy Thing For 8/2/2005

I almost forgot to post my happy thing for today. I wasn't even thinking about it when I snapped this phone cam picture at our dinner cooking class at Bristol Farms. We've been going on a semi regular basis now for around two years now. Definitely not all the time, but often enough to get to know everyone. Good times.

Not the best picture, but it satisfies my needs for this post. The cooking school director, Grace, is second from the left in white and Shelly the cooking school coordinator is on the right. Two of the best people you'll ever meet and can they cook. Yummy! I never leave there hungry. Never.

I had just received a new camera and tripod and had set them both up. I thought I had taken everything out of the box they came in. I guess I was wrong. Newegg tossed in a free bonus gift.

Returning A Lemming Moment

Since I'm just a big copycat I figured I'd see if I could follow through on the Happy Moment that Sherri posted about. Now I don't know if I'll be able to, but I'm going to at least try to post all my moments as pictures. We'll see. I think it's a tall order, but wtf.

I got home today and the mailman brought these to my door. I had a chance to buy all three of these while in Canada recently for much less than what I paid to have them shipped here. Doh! Still very happy to receive them. Yay!
