This is really amazing. I don't usually listen to Mr. Stern (unlike my wife), so my interest in this topic was mainly due to wondering why someone would want to bash California? I click on the link provided and realize the story being described is in LAGUNA NIGUEL! Just a short walk FROM MY HOUSE! I think, "Ah ha! Internet scam!” How could something SO unreasonable be true? Isn't this just a case of someone projecting their loathing of the OC-lifestyle into some sort of an internet rouse?
I look to see if this myth can be debunked, but alas my friends, I think it really did happen. Start with this: listen to the entire 911 tape here: http://www.snopes.com/crime/audio/burger.wma
Here are the facts I gleaned from the tape: The OC mom calling into the dispatcher says she is in Laguna Niguel. The only Burger King in Laguna Niguel is located on Greenfield. At one point she says she just picked her kids up from Tae Kwon Do and she was on her way to the Toll Road. The only Tae Kwon Do place in the area is called NationalTKD Studios. If our Mom in question was to leave the school, and drive to the nearest Toll Road entrance, she would pass DIRECTLY by the Burger King in question. The facts are all too real my friends. My conclusion is this Mom DID IN FACT call 911.
I love Orange County. Come visit us soon and don't worry about the cops.

I've been on a rant lately about fkn obscenity. No, no, no, I'm not against it. But I wonder about people who use "words" like "fkn." What do they think we'll think? Well, "fuck," of course. That being the case, why not just use the word, huh? William F. Buckley wrote a column a while back on obscenity and he used "f_ _k." I'm going to call his ass on that one, for the same reason: what did he think I'd think? God Damned hypocracy.
ps- no, there was no amputation. It was just too silly to pass up.
